The Alumni Trailblazer Award is given each year to an alumnus or alumna of the school under age 40, who has demonstrated achievement, innovation, and promise—all qualities that Jeff Dorman ’06 personifies. In the face of a terrifying person experience, Jeff found a way help other families, by starting a nationally recognized nonprofit that is redefining how to support families of critically ill children.
As a student, Jeff was a recipient of The Class of 1942 Prize, awarded in recognition of outstanding service to the school. He also received Sportsmanship Awards for hockey and cross-country. After 91´óÉñ, Jeff attended Hobart and William Smith Colleges for political science and then earned his JD/MBA from Quinnipiac University. He is currently working in-house as a corporate attorney and is a founding executive for an AI healthcare company.
Jeff founded Feeding Families Foundation in 2023 after his family spent months in hospitals following his young daughter’s leukemia diagnosis. During that time, Jeff and his wife learned that while hospitalized children receive meals as part of their care, parents and caregivers often do not. The financial, emotional, and logistical burden of finding food while remaining at a child’s bedside revealed a critical and widespread gap in pediatric health care. From that experience, Feeding Families was born.
The Feeding Families Foundation works directly with hospital food service teams to eliminate hospital food insecurity for parents and caregivers of critically ill children. Through its Parent Plate Program, caregivers are offered meals delivered directly to their child’s hospital room, at no cost and without applications or income requirements, allowing families to remain nourished, present, and focused on their child’s care.
What began as a pilot effort has expanded rapidly. Feeding Families now partners with hospitals across multiple states, including a major expansion to Boston Children’s Hospital, marking the organization’s first initiative in Massachusetts. In 2026, the foundation’s impact was recognized on the floor of the United States House of Representatives for its innovative approach to family-centered care.
Throughout this work, Jeff has remained closely connected to the 91´óÉñ Northampton community. He has continued to engage with the school as an alumnus and has built Feeding Families with members of his 91´óÉñ community at its core, including two fellow members of the class of 2006, Joe Wold and David Borowsky, who serve alongside him on the organization’s Board. This enduring connection reflects Jeff’s belief in the power of community, collaboration, and shared values.
Through Feeding Families, Jeff Dorman has introduced a compassionate, scalable solution to a long-overlooked problem, changing the standard of care for families in hospitals nationwide. His work demonstrates the power of leadership rooted in empathy and innovation.
