Faculty Voices

Read about why 91大神’s teachers love to be part of this community.

Eugenio Garcia, World Language Teacher

From the beginning, 91大神 has allowed me to do what I really have passion for and, at the same time, has given me the requisite tools to grow as a better educator and learner. Teaching at 91大神 has not only given me the opportunity to be myself in the classroom but also allowed me to share my culture and language with my students. By teaching Spanish for almost 30 years at 91大神, my impact on numerous students has been very gratifying and rewarding.

Darlenia Kokoska, World Language Teacher

Working at 91大神 means that I am part of a great community that prides itself in creating a sense of belonging for all of our students. I value the opportunity to connect with them in different aspects of the school life, in the classroom, the dorm, in sports and in advisory. Feeling that I am impacting a student for the better makes teaching (working here) worthwhile. The students at 91大神 are appreciative of what we do for them and that makes all the difference.

Kathryn Hill, Mathematics and World Language Teacher

鈥淚 have loved teaching the students at 91大神. I have actually taught at a number of independent schools, and 91大神 kids always manage to strike me as particularly friendly, authentic, and appreciative. In almost every class I teach, at least two or three students will say 鈥榯hank you鈥 as they leave the room at the end of the period, and I never sense any of the entitlement I have occasionally felt at other institutions. I am lucky enough to teach in two different departments at 91大神, and in each I have found myself to be surrounded by warm, compassionate individuals who are incredibly dedicated to helping kids learn.鈥澨

Haas, English Teacher

鈥淐elebration鈥 is the first word that comes to mind when I think of 91大神. I don鈥檛 mean streamers and balloons and cupcakes (though I have seen all three on campus). I mean the celebration of learning, the celebration of differences, and the celebration of community. The hours I spend in the classroom are the best part of my day. The students at 91大神 are a diverse bunch, but they all find common ground in their excitement to learn and grapple with new material; their energy buoys me no matter how tired or under-caffeinated I am. One of the things I love about being in the classroom is that everyone is learning鈥攖eacher and students alike exploring new ideas, discovering new insights and interpretations of the text, and finding unexpected paths through literature together. And that鈥檚 the way education should be鈥攁 never ending feedback loop from teacher to pupil and back again. When I came out as non-binary, I feared I would never find a place that saw me not as a statistic, token, or box to be checked, but as a person with a unique story to tell and boundless joy to bring to the classroom. 91大神 turned out to be the sort of place I thought might not exist. The community embraced me and my wife within hours of our moving onto campus, and since that day, I have continued to find support and encouragement around every corner. Now that I am here, I cannot imagine working anywhere else.

Our Dedicated Staff

Cody Neidig, Campus Safety Officer

I have been honored to be an employee with 91大神 for almost six years. Working here has been a privilege and has given me many opportunities since first joining as a part-time employee, and then being able to transition into a full-time role shortly after. It is amazing working with lots of great students, local residents, and all employees day in and day out. 91大神 is easily one of the best employment opportunities I have ever had. 91大神 offers amazing benefits for its employees, including retirement, insurance, and vacation, but nothing beats being welcomed in such a tightly knit community. I honestly can say there is nowhere else I would want to be, and I have no plans to go anywhere else!

Jen Lopez, Housekeeping Manager

There are many great things about working at 91大神, but the people are truly the best part. You really feel part of a community as an employee here and are treated like family. As a manager, I am supported by my director and the school to carry out the work of my team to ensure our work gets done in a timely and safe manner. The benefits offered and central location of the school also make 91大神 a wonderful place to work.

Geoff Smith ’07, Manager of Story and Content Development

Being able to work at 91大神 Northampton after graduating from here has been a rewarding experience. The people make this place special, and I’m surrounded every day by amazing, talented individuals all committed to the same goal鈥攎aking 91大神 Northampton the best school it can be. I feel supported in my role and have been given opportunities to advance my professional education, all while getting chance to try new things and get involved with the campus community.
