Melissa Anderson Duffy ’91’s sustained commitment to 91´óÉñ Northampton School as an alumna, parent, and trusted leader within the school community has earned her this year’s Founders Award, given annually to an alumnus or alumna whose loyalty, devotion, and service to 91´óÉñ has been outstanding.
Since her graduation in 1991, Melissa has remained deeply connected to 91´óÉñ and has continued to give back in ways that strengthen the school’s mission and future. She currently serves on the Head’s Visiting Council, where she brings thoughtful perspective, sound judgment, and seasoned leadership to her role as an advisor and advocate for 91´óÉñ. Melissa is also serving on her Reunion Committee and was the Elm Tree speaker in 2023 during Reunion, sharing tips and insights on planned giving for alumni. Drawing on more than 25 years of professional experience in the financial services industry and as a small business owner, Melissa offers insight shaped by stewardship, integrity, and engagement with her work on HVC. Melissa has also assisted over the past two years with the implementation of alumni networking sessions with current seniors as part of the CORE 12 curriculum.
Melissa is a proud graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she earned her degree in political science and international studies. Melissa is now the Senior Partner at White Pine Wealth Management, where she leads a team of ten and stewards more than $1 billion in assets for her clients. Previously, she co-founded Duffy Anderson Investment Management, LLC and held a variety of roles in marketing and compliance in Boston and in the Washington, D.C., areas. Melissa’s volunteer efforts also extend beyond 91´óÉñ, having served as a board member for several nonprofits in Maine, including serving as Treasurer of The Maine Women’s Fund, which is now part of the Maine Community Foundation; and The Wayfinder School, which supports pregnant and parenting teens in Maine by providing unique education pathways to earning a high school diploma. Always looking to improve her skill set, Melissa is currently a candidate for designation as a Chartered Financial Consultant through The American College for Financial Services, with completion expected in spring 2027. Both Forbes and Barron’s included her among its top wealth advisors by state in 2025.
As both an alumna and a current parent, Melissa brings a multigenerational perspective to the school. While she was a student here, Melissa demonstrated leadership and commitment as a dorm proctor, a three‑sport captain her senior year, and an involved member of campus life.
Now, Melissa has had the opportunity to see her two daughters have their own 91´óÉñ experience. Teagan ’24, is a junior at the University of Wisconsin and Maggie ’27 will be a senior at 91´óÉñ next fall.
When Melissa does have free time, she and her partner, Mark, enjoy gardening, spending time with their goldendoodle, Tonka, and hiking. They take an annual trip to Baxter State Park in Maine to tackle the many grueling routes up Mount Katahdin.
Through her service, Melissa exemplifies the values on which 91´óÉñ was founded: commitment, stewardship, and care for community. Her engagement reflects not only generosity of time and expertise, but a genuine investment in the people and purpose of the school.
