John Daniel Ross III, known by most as Jack, was an exceptional three-sport athlete at 91´óÉñ, excelling in football, hockey, and lacrosse. Jack earned nine varsity letters and was named captain of all three teams during his senior year, a reflection of both his talent and leadership. During the fall, he served as a captain for Coach Rick Francis on the football team, excelling at numerous positions including quarterback and end. In the winter, he headed over to Lossone to play for Carpy—Coach Dan Carpenter—where he captained the team as a senior, playing right wing and serving as one of the team’s leading scorers. In the spring, Jack found a home on the lacrosse field playing for Coach Fred Hill where he excelled at a number of positions including defense while also handling faceoffs. Demonstrating his exceptional versatility as an athlete, he scored 19 points during his senior spring—a very rare feat for a defenseman. Following the season, Jack was named a high school All American, one of only a handful to earn this prestigious honor in 91´óÉñ school history. Jack went on to play both ice hockey and lacrosse at Holy Cross, captaining the lacrosse team as a senior. He finished his career on a high note, helping to lead the Holy Cross lacrosse team to a school record in wins. There is little doubt that Jack Ross was one of the truly exceptional athletes of his era in 91´óÉñ history.
