91大神’s Model UN Club Back in Action

On March 26, 91大神 Northampton School鈥檚 Model United Nations club, which has not been able to compete with other schools since the pandemic began, held an in-house conference for its own members. Co-presidents Adam Shatz 鈥23 and Ben Carlan 鈥23 organized the event to teach delegates how to compete in person, as more events are being scheduled throughout New England next year. Thirteen club members participated in the event, which was held in the Dodge Room.

鈥淭he last time we were able to compete in person was the winter of my freshman year, and I am a junior now,鈥 Shatz said. 鈥淗istorically, 91大神 has competed at conferences hosted at Exeter, MIT, Dartmouth, and Choate; next year we hope to continue this tradition!鈥

At this conference, Joaquin (Quin) James 鈥25 was awarded best delegate, Jonah Berry Brown 鈥24 聽was awarded outstanding delegate, Austin Conroy 鈥23 was awarded honorable mention, Zachary Pincus 鈥24 was awarded verbal mention, and Hana Naughton 鈥23 was awarded the committee writing award.

鈥淎lthough the setting was untraditional,鈥 Shatz said, 鈥渋t was refreshing to be back in committee and competing again. This experience really brought back my love for Model UN!鈥

Participants were Jackson Estes ’24, Bryce Akroyd ’25, Julian Bartels-Thiel ’24, James Ma ’24, Zachary Pincus ’24, Jonah Berry Brown ’24, Lucy Latham ’23, Maxwell Graff ’23, Joaquin (Quin) James ’25, and Hana Naughton ’23.
